The Sweet Trilogy by Wendy Higgins

Sweet Evil

Embrace the Forbidden

What if there were teens whose lives literally depended on being bad influences?

This is the reality for sons and daughters of fallen angels.
Tenderhearted Southern girl Anna Whitt was born with the sixth sense to see and feel emotions of other people. She's aware of a struggle within herself, an inexplicable pull toward danger, but it isn't until she turns sixteen and meets the alluring Kaidan Rowe that she discovers her terrifying heritage and her willpower is put to the test. He's the boy your daddy warned you about. If only someone had warned Anna.

Forced to face her destiny, will Anna embrace her halo or her horns?

Sweet Peril

Anna Whitt, the daughter of a guardian angel and a demon, promised herself she’d never do the work of her father—polluting souls. She’d been naive to make such a vow. She’d been naive about a lot of things.

Haunted by demon whisperers, Anna does whatever she can to survive, even if it means embracing her dark side and earning an unwanted reputation as her school’s party girl. Her life has never looked more bleak. And all the while there’s Kaidan Rowe, son of the Duke of Lust, plaguing her heart and mind.

When an unexpected lost message from the angels surfaces, Anna finds herself traveling the globe with Kopano, son of Wrath, in an attempt to gain support of fellow Nephilim and give them hope for the first time. It soon becomes clear that whatever freedoms Anna and the rest of the Neph are hoping to win will not be gained without a fight. Until then, Anna and Kaidan must put aside the issues between them, overcome the steamiest of temptations yet, and face the ultimate question: is loving someone worth risking their life?

The Program (The Program, #1)The Program by Suzanne Young
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Great Book! I loved the storyline and I loved the characters they were very relatable. The Program seems like a very scary place but at the same time people would die without it so you are torn on whither you like it or not.

Sloane and her boyfriend James know that to show any type of emotion could end them up in The Program. A place where all teens end up and are not themselves when they come out. Suicide has turned into a global teen epidemic and The Program the only Cure. The place where all your memories are erased and what comes out is another you all together.

Sloane knows that one little slip could send her inside but what is she to do when her life around her is going down hill fast! James maybe infected and he was always the one who promised to be strong and protect them both. Now she is the one who must protect him at all costs or they may end up in The Program and not know each other when they come out.

How will they ever survive The Program? when the cost my be their lives.

Suzanne young is an amazing writer! she couldn't have done a better job on this book I totally loved it! I can't wait to read the next one to find out what happens next for Sloane and James. They are truly the ultimate couple!

In Sloane’s world, true feelings are forbidden, teen suicide is an epidemic, and the only solution is The Program.

Sloane knows better than to cry in front of anyone. With suicide now an international epidemic, one outburst could land her in The Program, the only proven course of treatment. Sloane’s parents have already lost one child; Sloane knows they’ll do anything to keep her alive. She also knows that everyone who’s been through The Program returns as a blank slate. Because their depression is gone—but so are their memories.

Under constant surveillance at home and at school, Sloane puts on a brave face and keeps her feelings buried as deep as she can. The only person Sloane can be herself with is James. He’s promised to keep them both safe and out of treatment, and Sloane knows their love is strong enough to withstand anything. But despite the promises they made to each other, it’s getting harder to hide the truth. They are both growing weaker. Depression is setting in. And The Program is coming for them.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Amazing book for the end of the series! I want more!!!!...lol I totally love this series and can't get enough of its characters. Kylie kicked some serious ass and everyone lives happily if not a little bruised.

Kylie is pissed at Lucas for what he has done to her and nursing her broken heart runs away from shadow falls into the arms of the chameleon compound and her Grandfather and great aunt.

Fate has other plans for her though and soon Mario and his goons come looking for Kylie and no where and no one is safe. With the help of her friends and a new friendly ghost with a penchant for swords and killing, Kylie is determined to take down Mario once and for all, or die trying.

Join Kylie and her friends as they move impossible odds to protect the ones they love and their way of life. For Love is the price and Death the Key.

C.C. Hunter is a wonderful storyteller and I am fully impressed again and again by the turn of the story. II can't wait to hear more when Della's Story comes out for it should be just as great of an adventure!

Kylie Galen's life hasn't been the same since her world was turned upside-down in Born at Midnight, Shadow Falls #1, and now an epic conclusion to her journey—not to mention a tough choice between two guys!—is brewing in Chosen at Nightfall:

When Kylie Galen left Shadow Falls, she thought it was the hardest decision of her life. Heartbroken and separated from everyone she loves, she has to embrace her abilities and what it means to be a chameleon. But as Kylie's journey comes to a close, she must return to the camp that started it all...and she must finally chose between the two boys who love her. The werewolf who broke her heart when he chose his pack over her, and the half-fae who ran from their intense attraction before they ever really had a chance. For Kylie, everything will finally be revealed and nothing will ever be the same.

Incandescent Enchantments Book Tours is hosting a tour for Joleene Naylors book Heart of the Raven!!!! and Wicca Wiich 4 book Blog will be on it! I will be doing a Character Interview with Verchiel my favorite character from the Novels. I am sooooo excited! this will be my first charcter interview so I hope it goes well! so make sure you all come back and check us out the tour schedule is below.

About Joleeen

Joleene Naylor grew up in southwest Iowa surrounded by soybeans, corn and very little entertainment - so she made her own. She has been writing and drawing since she was a small child, with a particular leaning towards fantasy, horror and paranormal. It is this love of all that goes bump in the night that led her to write the Amaranthine series.

Her published works include the fun eBook short 101 Tips for Traveling with a Vampire, and four books in the Amaranthine series; Shades of Gray,  Legacy of Ghosts, Ties of Blood and Ashes of Deceit. The Vampire Morsels, short stories about characters from the Amaranthine universe, are available individually as free reads or as a collection. She is also the author of the non-fiction How to Get a Cheap Book Cover.  She’s also written many short stories and poems, and has been published in The Blue Turtle Crossing eZine and Target Audience Magazine.  Her photographs have been featured on travel sites, cooking sites and have even made the homepage of Digg, and she was a judge in the now quiet New Covey Awards.

In her spare time she is a freelance artist, book cover designer and photographer. Her current projects include the sixth novel in the Amaranthine series, and The Terrible Turtle Conspiracy, a web manga collaboration with writer Jonathan Harvey. Joleene maintains blogs full of odd ramblings and hopes to win the lottery. Until she does, she and her husband live near Bolivar Missouri with their miniature zoo. However, unless she starts buying Tickets she may never win anything.

Where to Find The Author

A myth with the power to destroy the world…

Katelina has barely recovered from the chaos of Malick’s revolt, yet she and Jorick must go to Munich to testify before the True Council. All hopes of a vacation are dashed when they’re assigned an entourage that includes Verchiel, a vampire Katelina never wants to see again.
Her hatred is forgotten when Malick and his henchmen penetrate the stronghold in Munich. Jorick hijacks the trip and diverts them on a quest to reclaim the Heart of the Raven. Said to be the disembodied heart of Lilith, the relic may be more reality than myth, and if it falls into the wrong hands it could have disastrous consequences for the world. Can they reach its hiding place before Malick?

The fifth installment of the Amaranthine series sees Jorick and Katelina draw closer as they surround themselves with their own miniature army to outwit the machinations of the ancient master. Katelina grows stronger and learns to stand on her own because there’s no room for the fainthearted in a world where darkness is eternal and the night tastes like blood.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Awesome book! I love all things goth and all things vampire so when it came to this book everything was just win win...lol...the book had some amazing twists and turns and a very wonderful ending! I totally didn't see any of it coming!

Emylene Stipe is a Goth Princess, Literately, her parents are like Goth royalty and they own the biggest Goth club in all of Toronto. When out shopping one day Emylene buys an old sketch and takes it home to hang on her apartment wall, but little does she know the sketch is more then it seems and inside is a whole other world. Determined to salve the mystery of the sketch Emylene unleashes chaos, magic, and horror into her world.

Laszlo Birij was by all appearances a simple shop keeper, but appearances can be deceiving. The day Emylene Stipe walked into his store to purchase the sketch he knew there was something special about her and that she might be the one to break the curse. All Laszlo wants is to be with his beloved Mira again. Laszlo and Emylene team up to help save the town from the chaos that has been unleashed upon it, but if things don't go according to plan they may loose everyone they love or worse be turned into the things that they are hunting.

Larry Rodness is a fantastic writer! I loved the imagery and they detail into everything. I could see in my mind everything that happened as if it was a movie playing. Fantastic work Larry!

Ashes of Deceit by Joleene Naylor book 4 in the Amaranthine Series.

Ashes of Deceit (Amaranthine #4)Ashes of Deceit by Joleene Naylor
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What can I say but amazing as always! I really enjoyed this one! it was full to the brim with chaos and battles and intrigue. Joleene never fails to disappoint when it comes to this stuff, there was something around every corner and Verchiel was at his all time best and most annoying as per usual.

In this book Katelina and Jorick are planing on relaxing and maybe going on vacation, ya right like that would ever happen. When they discover that a vampire has been kidnapped by humans and is being held hostage katalina knows that Jorick can do nothing but put their plans on hold to rescue the poor vampire. Along the way they make some new friends and discover new things about themselves and new things about old acquaintances.

No sooner then getting home then they are forced to the Guild and in to Malicks presence again. Malick forces Jorick to rejoin the Executioners or he will kill Katelina. Jorick has little choice but to return to his post at Malick's side but it doesn't mean he has to be happy about it. What kind of games is Malick up to now? Katelina isn't sure but she is sure it isn't good and she is doubly sure that people are going to die.

Explosions rock the Citadel. has Oren finally attacked? or is Malick finally setting his plans in motion? one things for sure Katelina must find Jorick and get out before there is no other chance to do so.

Awesome book! Verchiel and Katelina were awesome in this one! I sure love that vampire...lol...he such a pain in the ass...lol...and we got to see the executioner side of Jorick in this one which was creepy let me say! keep up the great work Joleene!

Ties of Blood (Amaranthine, #3)Ties of Blood by Joleene Naylor
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow! True to form Joleene Naylor wows us again with her amazing talent in this amazing third novel in the Amaranthine series. I couldn't put it down! around every corner something new and sinister lurked and on more then one occasion I thought they were all doomed.

This book starts off were the last left off with Jorick and Katelina finally home after the long battle with Kateesha. Katelina feels that maybe its time to call home as she is still technically reported kidnapped after all and it wouldn't hurt to get her stuff so she could wear some of her own clothes for a change. The trip home is nothing but a disaster! it starts a chain reaction of disaster that follows them. First Jorick is arrested for Kidnapping, then they are taken by Executioners! apparently Malick wants to question them about Kateesha's death. Will he kill her for killing his beloved fledgling? and not only that but because of it some psychotic phantom vampire is now on their tail and wants to kill her too!

Is this her life now? death, chaos, and despair! probably but Katelina knows that it is worth it to be with Jorick. He is the one bright spot in her gloomy world and she will do anything to stand by his side.

Joleene is a true inspiration to writers out there everywhere her books and art are truly phenomenal and I can't wait to see what she comes up with next! make sure you stop by her website her see her art of the characters from her books, Verchiel is a favorite of mine, as I am sure you all have your favorites as well. I am off to read the next book as I just can't get enough!...lol

"Warning Some Sexual Content"

With Kateesha dead, it’s time to face the consequences – in both worlds.
When Katelina accepted her new life of night and vampires, she left behind a worried mother and an abandoned apartment. Instead of wrapping things up, a trip home starts a chain reaction. They meet Verchiel, a strange vampire who seems too eager to befriend them, then the police arrest Jorick for kidnapping. Even worse, The Guild may want to question them concerning Kateesha’s death.
Despite Jorick’s best efforts, he and Katelina go from being prisoners of one world to prisoners of another. Against her will, Katelina is taken to The Guild to face Malick, and Jorick must follow. Does Malick want to punish them, or is he after something else? And why does Verchiel keep popping up? Even more terrifying, are they really being followed by a malicious vampire, or is it just Katelina’s imagination?
In Ties of Blood, events are set into motion whose consequences will echo across the future. The third installment of the Amaranthine series plunges back into the world of night and fear; a world where vampires live in the dark for a reason.

I love this series! I love all the battles but this book was mostly verbal fighting...lol...damn I wanted to slap some of them! Oren is so damn frustrating! I liked the interaction between Jorick and Katelina in this one it was explosive and raw and just perfect.

This book starts off where the last one left off with Jorick and Katelina going to his home. When they get there they are set upon by several people all of who have several options on whether or not Jorick should or should not Join in on Oren's war against the Guild. Jorick determined to have some peace at home with Katelina declines, but fate it would seem has other plans for them when Katelina is attacked by goons sent by and old enemy bent out for revenge and Jorick must join forces with Oren in order to retaliate.

Will they die in this battle? no one knows, but Katelina is determined to prove her worth no only to Jorick but to the others as well for she may be a human but she is no coward!

I totally love this series! Joleene is an artist! the characters are amazing, they are so much like real people it is amazing to me that they are not ...lol... except for the vampire thing ....lol.... if you could really throw that many annoying people in one room together it would soooo be just as she describes it she is a genius!....I so can't wait to read the next one.

After the events of Shades of Gray, Katelina seeks peace at Jorick’s house by the sea. But it’s  impossible to find, so long as she’s determined to stay with a vampire – and she is determined, isn’t she?
Despite her growing attraction to her vampire “hero”, there are so many secrets left hidden in the shadows.  While she struggles to unravel the mystery of a locked room and a faded photograph, a storm brews in the world beyond. Kateesha, a former ally, builds a secret war coven to fight the same battle as Jorick’s fledgling.  A common enemy isn’t enough to overcome past betrayals, and the tempest explodes into a violent frenzy that may leave one of them dead, if not changed forever.
Old enemies will resurface and the past will come back to haunt both Jorick and Katelina as they’re pulled by opposing forces into a battle that neither had anticipated. Can they band together and stand strong against the waves that threaten to tear them apart, or will they lose themselves to old regrets and older guilt?
The second installment of the Amaranthine series plunges back into a world of blood and cruelty where the darkness hold dominion and vampires don’t sparkle.

Light by Michael Grant is HERE! book 6 in the Gone Series.

Light (Gone, #6)Light by Michael Grant
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

wow what an amazing ending to a wonderful tale! I have been captivate from the very first moment of reading this series and Micheal Grant has spun a most incredible story one I could never have dreamed possible! I loved each and every book from beginning to end and this one was just as incredible as the others!

In this last book everything is coming to a head for the children, although you can hardly call them children anymore after the horrors they have faced, even the littles. The gaiaphage has a body now, Gaia's body, and can go where it pleases and do what it will. Growing a human body so fast takes a lot of strength and she hungers for more then drake and Diana can feed her, and Diana is worried that being Gaia's mother wont save her from being eaten. Diana's malicious mutant daughter Gaia is endlessly hungry for destruction. She yearns to conquer her Nemesis, Little Pete, and then bend the entire world to her warped will.

As long-standing enemies become allies, secrets are revealed and unexpected sacrifices are made. Will their attempts to save themselves and one another matter in the end, or will the kids of Perdido Beach perish in this final power struggle? only time will tell, Sam knows he probably wont make it out alive but then he wouldn't be able to live in that world anymore anyway not after all he has seen, so he might as well go out with a bang.

best series ever! one I will read over and over again! Micheal is a genius! the characters were so real and their problems so heartbreaking at times that it made you want to reach in and comfort them and at other times slap them for doing something stupid...lol... it was as amazing and horrific experience all at the same time. A series that everyone should read!

It's been over a year since all the adults disappeared. Gone.

In the time since everyperson over the age of fourteen disappeared from the town of Perdido Beach, California, countless battles have been fought: battles against hunger and lies and plague, and epic battles of good against evil. And now, the gaiaphage has been reborn as Diana's malicious mutant daughter, Gaia. Gaia is endlessly hungry for destruction.

Light, the sixth and final book in the New York Times bestselling Gone series by Michael Grant, creates a masterful, arresting conclusion to life in the FAYZ.

Shades of Gray by Joleene Naylor book 1 in the Amaranthine Series.

Shades of Gray (Amaranthine, #1)Shades of Gray by Joleene Naylor
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Awesome book! Joleene Naylor is a superb writer as she brings her characters to life threatening heights again and again. I love how every time you think the characters are safe something else shakes them up. it is a never ending battle of intrigue.

In this first Story In Joleene's Amaranthine Series Katelina and Jorick meet for the first time when her lover Patrick is brutally murdered and Jorick is the only one who seems to be willing to give Katelina any answers.

They are attacked by a band of men with fangs and abnormal strength. who are these people and what did they do to poor Patrick? and more importantly what do they now want with Katelina and Jorick?

Katelina is pulled into a supernatural world not of her choosing but she finds that underneath all the horror and chaos there is one who would do anything for her and stop at nothing to see to her well being and she likes that more then she wants to admit to herself.

Joleene is supernatural genius and I can't wait to devour the rest of the stories in the series! which I am about to do right now...lol...if you haven't read these books I suggest you hurry up and start!

He lay on the floor in a heap. A puddle of congealing gore, so dark it looked black, spread out around him and made the carpet fibers stiff.
“Patrick.”
Whatever killed Patrick wasn’t human, but if it wasn’t an animal what else could it be? What else is there to be?
Katelina is about to find out that if you turn over the rock of reality and look underneath it you’ll find things that hide in the shadows away from the light. Things you don’t want to see. Blood drinking monsters called vampires.
But what do you do when the vampire happens to be so beautiful you can’t stop looking at him? Or when he’s your only hope against a mob of monsters that think you’ve wronged them? Sure, maybe he saved your life, but how can you trust – really trust – someone who isn’t even human?
Katelina has no choice. Hunted by a coven of vampires, she has to rely on Jorick to help her escape. But no matter how far they run death chases them like a shadow until their only alternative is to turn around and fight.
Trapped between light and dark, the pair must travel down a path of mystery and terror as their pasts are slowly revealed and their passions ignite.  To survive, the two allies must join in an ancient power-struggle that could very well decide their futures and the fate of the vampire covens…
The first exciting book in the Amaranthine series is a world of  violence, obsession, betrayal and, most of all, vampires.

About Joleeen

Joleene Naylor is an independent author, freelance artist and part time photographer.  She grew up in southwest Iowa surrounded by corn and very little entertainment – so she made her own. She’s been writing and drawing since she was a small child, with a particular leaning towards speculative fiction.

Current projects include the fifth novel in the Amaranthine series; Patrick, a novella; illustrating The Terrible Turtle Conspiracy, a weekly web comic written by Jonathan Harvey; and creating freelance book covers for other authors.

My Interview

I got the chance to interview the wonderfully talented Joleene Naylor author of the Heart of the Raven which is the 5th book in the Amaranthine series. Heart of the Raven is a exciting and action packed tale of love and adventure, betrayal and bloodshed, these books have it all.

Joleene's Amaranthine Series is a must read for anyone who loves a great vampire series.  I am extremely fond of this book and can not wait to read the others, Joleene is a amazing gifted author and her characters are so real you expect them to leap up off the page.

Q: Can you please tell us a little about your Amaranthine series and what inspired you to write it?

Amaranthine is a vampire romance series that has a lot of blood, gore and a good dose of death. Katelina was a normal human with a mundane life until she got tangled up with the wrong guy. From there she met Jorick, an enigmatic vampire, who dragged her running and screaming into the world of vampires, night and blood. I actually started the series as something to write for NaNoWriMo and originally hadn’t intended to do much with the book until a friend of mine convinced me it was worth finishing – and publishing.

Q: Which Book in the series was your favorite to write?

Ties of Blood stands out as one of my favorites. I think it was because of Verchiel. He was originally supposed to get killed in his introductory scene; sort of a “Hullo. Swish, fight, snarl, stab, gurgle, done” moment. I never meant for him to be a real character, so it was a lot of fun seeing him become one.

Q: If you could be one of the characters in your book which one would you choose?

Ha ha! I know how evil the writer is – I don’t think I’d want to be any of them! Maybe being a side character, like one of the treasure hunters, who doesn’t get enough face time to kill or torture would be okay. Then again, there’s the risk of getting tortured in one of the short stories…

Q: In Heart of the Raven we see that Katelina and Jorick love each other very much and there was talk of turning her will we maybe see that sometime soon?

I actually ran a poll once asking readers when they thought I should turn her because I had toyed with doing it while they were in the mountains in Japan. The results came back with 23% saying “there’s no rush, I like her human”, while the next set, at 14%, said “After Malick is defeated.” Of course, I admit it will get stuck in when it fits, but it will eventually happen, whether Katelina likes it or not. The main question is who will do it.

Q: Are any of your characters in your books based on people in your real life?

None of them are intentionally based on anyone, though it happens, I’m sure. Like Jorick actually has a lot in common with my husband, though I didn’t do it on purpose.

Q: Verchiel is a pretty big pain but I think he helped out alot in Heart of the Raven Do you think he should be forgiven for what he did?

I think he means well most of the time. He actually helps Katelina, and even Jorick, a lot throughout the series, but Jorick can’t see it and Katelina goes back and forth on it, which is just as well. If she was too open to it I’d end up with a love triangle and I know several of my readers have said they don’t want that.

Q: If your own life was a subject of a book what type of fiction would it be: humor, horror, love story etc...?

Ha ha! Humor for sure! We often joke that we need our own sitcom/reality show because we all think we’re funny. (And looks don’t count – ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Okay, sorry, sad joke.)

Q: You brought a lot of quirky characters together for Heart of the Raven, did you think when you started the book they all might kill each other in the end?...lol

They’d like to, I’m sure! They’re all so self-centered and egotistical that at times it’s almost impossible to get them to cooperate. But I imagine that’s what vampires would be like, especially old ones. As Jorick says in one of the books, it’s only self-centered people that crave immortality, humble people don’t think they deserve to live forever.

Q: How hard was it to write a book like this and what kind of tips would you pass on to make the journey easier for other writers?

The hardest part of this one was all the foreign locations because I’ve never left the U.S. I’ve never flown internationally, or been on a ferry, or even seen a customs office, and google has only so much info. I started by reading travel blogs, official customs websites, travel wiki, and about a billion other sites, but there were still some holes , so I had to network. My cousin’s wife is from Germany, I have a friend who visits Russia often, another who has been to Japan, a fourth who knows a lot of Japanese, and a fifth who just went to Egypt, so I was able to get pretty much everything I needed from them. My advice would be that people often love to talk about their experiences, so if you need some information, just ask. There’s a good chance they’ll be happy to help you out.

Q: With the big bad unleashed in Heart of the Raven what is in store for your Characters Next?

I have no idea. I know they will go back to Munich, then they’ll go to the beach (finally) and then… well, I suspect something bad will go down while they’re there. Hopefully I can get them back to the U.S. so I won’t need to do as much research on locations! I do have a friend in Italy, though, so if they have to go somewhere new maybe they’ll end up there… Just a random thought.

Q: Thank you so much for your interview, Joleene. Would you like to tell my readers where they can find you on the web and where everyone can buy your books?
