WW4BB Presents: A Review of The Spirit Guide by Elizabeth Davies

Posted by wiccawitch4 on 2:39:00 pm

Seren has an unusual gift – she sees spirits, the shades of the dead.
Terrified of being accused of witchcraft, a very real possibility in twelfth century Britain, she keeps her secret close, not even confiding in her husband.

But when she gives her heart and soul to a man who guides spirits in the world beyond the living, she risks her secret and her life for their love.

My Review

The Spirit Guide by Elizabeth Davies
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I don't have words to describe how incredible this book was! Elizabeth Davies is a brilliant author and this book takes it to a whole new level!

As a person who has dealt with spirits and ghost my whole life I was excited to see the direction that Elizabeth would take with this story. I would have to say that I am blown away! she takes a very unique and special gift and turns it in to a fantastic historical tale full of intrigue, romance and danger.

I loved all the history in the book. The real tales of King John are not told often and I enjoyed This part of the book immensely as well as all of the talk of the battles in Wales. the gossip that Matilda de Braose was really a witch and built the castle in one night with a spell made me laugh as the obviously that is impossible, the things people used to say crack me up!

The bad guy in the story was amazing! I couldn't get over how well he was written! Davies wrote him so well that you actually liked him at certain parts of the story and then you would kind of say to yourself "wait a min he is the bad guy!"...lol...and poor Seren living under the constant threat of discovery or being called a witch took its toll on the poor girl and I sure wouldn't have wanted to be in her shoes!

I really loved the character Beti, working in the Herb garden with Seren. She had a lot of knowledge and wisdom and I would love to know some like her! I also loved George who for a ghost was a pretty great guy! He did everything he could to protect Seren and I was really happy with the rewards he got in the end!

this book is for 18+ readers and I highly recommend it to all! if you haven't got your copy do so now!

WW4BB Presents: A Review of Crimson & Cream by C.M. Skiera

Posted by wiccawitch4 on 2:46:00 pm

Hounded by watchmen, trolls, goblins, and a relentless bounty hunter, 13-year-old Jetsam dreams of the day he’ll no longer have to run for his life.

In the mountain city of Dwim-Halloe, Eadriel and Elvar were born twins to teachers at the city’s revered School of Magic. When the new king outlawed magic, the boys’ parents were murdered. Their deaths forfeited the twins' magical birthright and made them homeless fugitives.

Rescued by an orphan gang, the fleeing twins were nicknamed Flotsam and Jetsam. To survive as outcasts, the orphans scavenge and pilfer nightly. Their last risky foray sent them fleeing into an unfamiliar cavern. Now the boys are lost deep underground where they encounter a strange beast that will change their lives forever and begin a harrowing journey for their ultimate survival.

Crimson & Cream recounts Jetsam’s adventurous tale of flight and discovery as the fugitive orphan unravels his tortured past while securing his tenuous future.

My Review

Crimson & Cream by C.M. Skiera
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Amazing and wonderful fantasy story full of adventures and journeys! C.M. Skiera is a brilliant writer who brings his audience to the edge of their seats with this heroic tale of orphan twins who have to grow up fast to face the chaotic and magical world around them.

I couldn't get enough of this story and I am sure you won't either as the twins nicknamed, Jetsam and Flotsam set out to right the wrong of their parents death. They encounter many obstacles in their way but even in the darkest of times manage time and time again to face the impossible odds against them.

What I loved most about this story was the emotion felt with every turn of the page. C.M. Skiera creates such a dramatic feel to the story that you can't help feeling a part of it, you can't help but laugh, cry and feel angry along with the characters because they become a part of your being and you a part of the story itself.

If you haven't read this it is a definite read for all you out there! I highly recommend this one!

Goodbye Normal by Lily N. Anderson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

amazing book!Lily N. Anderson is a incredible author and I couldn't put the book down! the characters where amazing and the way she created the magical world around them shows how great of an imagination and how creative she can be!

As a real witch in life when I read stories of this nature it makes me glad that the life of real witches are so much less complicated...lol...but the down side is no flashy powers. I would take my simple nature based life over one like this book any day! the power of nature is around me everyday (and bonus no bad guys are chasing me...lol).

I really loved the character of Liz, although she was selfish at times and bossy at others she reminded me of my best friend Annette. The way she would barge in on Zoe and she spoke her mind about everything! no matter who wanted to hear it..lol...and the way they would laugh and fight and make up. I also really liked Chris from the first moment he came into the book I immediately took to him. He was a great guy and I was rooting for him and Zoe to get together through the whole book!

Zoe was one tough cookie and can't wait to read more of this series as this one was great! I can't wait to find out what happens next! The bad guys in this one don't make much of an appearance till the end but are talked about a lot and I have a feeling we will see much more of them in the second book. Lily N. Anderson has me hooked with her phenomenal characters and extraordinary story.

Excerpt

It doesn't take me long to reach the cabin. Grayson greets me as I run up to the house. The girls are already inside, getting settled. So is Kyle. I can see them inside the main room, the one with all the large windows.
"You guys are here early."
"Well, you know how Brooklynn loves her early mornings." I roll my eyes at my friend, because Brooklynn is not the morning person of the group. Dakota is. And now, apparently so is Kyle because he comes bouncing down those stairs with a huge smile on his face.
"This place is sweet!" He grabs one of the bags, and heads back into the house without another word.
"He's very cheerful in the mornings." Grayson comments.
"Grand."
The girls walk out then, coming down the porch stairs. Brook heads toward me, but before she can hug me, she crinkles her nose and frowns. I know Dakota is standing next to her, but I'm keeping my eyes strictly on Brook.
"Really, Chance? This is how you greet your guests?" She waves her hand over my sweaty body.
"Yep. Come here, darling." I reach for her, but she drags Dakota to block the path, nearly making us collide. Dakota is wearing her usual annoyed expression and the simplicity of practiced interactions make me braver. With a gleam in my eyes, I lunge at the girls, wrapping Dakota in my arms as I reach for Brook hiding behind her. Both of them squeal, trying to wiggle out of my embrace.
The movement does weird things to my insides as Dakota's frame fits so perfectly against mine. Brook manages to escape, and now it's just Dakota and me, locked in an embrace. I look down at her, my eyes crashing into hers and it's like everything I've ever imagined. Time stands still for one perfect moment, before I'm bending over and gasping for breath.
"Did you seriously just punch me in the stomach?" I rasp, glaring at Dakota's smug smile.
"You're lucky that's all I did." Oh is this how we're going to play it? Good thing I know this game. Right then and there, I decide that I'm going for it. Just for this weekend, I won't hide from Dakota and my feelings for her. I'm going to rebuild the awkward friendship we've established last year and see where it takes us. I know she sees the change as my eyes light up, mischievously.
"You know, Dakota. You stink a bit of sweat. Maybe you should take a little bath." I reach for her, my intentions clear. She smacks at my arms, turning to run back into the house and away from the hot tub that's a lot closer than she'd like. I haven't been running all my life for nothing. I catch up to her easily, grabbing her from behind and lifting her clear off the ground.
"Chance! Don't you dare put me into that water. I swear I will get you for it."
"Awe, honey. Promises, promises."

WW4BB Presents: A Review of Claimed by a Demon King by Felicity Heaton

Posted by wiccawitch4 on 10:10:00 am

The moment the demon King Thorne of the Third Realm set eyes on the mortal huntress Sable, he knew she was his fated one. The fiery, dangerous female awakened hungers he had never experienced before, a dark craving and passion that has consumed him in their time apart. As the lunar cycle wanes, she enters his world again and nothing will stand in the way of him claiming his forever with her—not the relentless assault from the Fifth Realm or the dark elf male determined to seduce her out of his grasp.

Intent on achieving the coveted position of commander at Archangel, Sable leads her small team into the dark underworld and the Third Realm, to a war where her allies are the very creatures she normally hunts—vampires, werewolves, and demons. Her eagerness to lead the deadly mission has everything to do with winning her promotion, and nothing to do with the kingdom’s brash, lethally seductive demon king—a king who stirred fierce desire and wildfire heat in her with just a look and an innocent touch when they first met, and has been in her wicked dreams ever since.

As the gathering storm between rivals unleashes irresistible passion that flares white-hot and the heat of the battle brings life-shattering realisations, can Sable place her duty before her heart? Or will she surrender to her deepest desires and be claimed by a demon king?

My Review

Claimed by a Demon King by Felicity Heaton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved this! I read it back it January when Felicity first gave it to me but for some reason never got the review up (Sorry Felicity) This story was of course brilliant! The demon King just as big and awesome as we remember him from the first book and of course there is that spark between him and Sable which she doesn't like very much...lol

This one a bit of a twist as not only do they battle there feelings for each other and work together to help with the war but Sable also finds out some key things about herself in this and it brings a whole new twist to the series.

I loved the back and forth between Sable and Thorne in this and many times found myself laughing as they yelled at each other but then were making out...lol...I get a kick out of this kind of explosive couple as you just know its only a matter of time before they give in...lol

The Battle scenes were amazing in this and Felicity should be commended for her use of imagery. I felt as if I was in the thick of battle the whole time it was amazing! I would love to see if they could make movies of these stories as they would be brilliant on the big screen!

WW4BB Presents: A Review of Tempted by a Rogue Prince by Felicity Heaton

Posted by wiccawitch4 on 9:31:00 am

An elf prince on the verge of losing himself to the darkness, Vail is maddened by the forty-two centuries he was under the control of a witch and forced to war with his brother. Now, he roams Hell seeking an escape from his terrible past and the heads of all who bear magic. When demons of the Fifth Realm capture him, he sees a chance to end his existence, but when he wakes in a cell to a beautiful female, he finds not death but his only shot at salvation—his true fated mate.

Captured by the enemy of the Third Realm when the war ended, Rosalind has spent months in the cells of the Fifth Realm with her magic bound, forced to heal the new king’s demon warriors, and haunted by the lives she has taken. When she’s brought to heal an unconscious man, she discovers her only hope of escape has come in the form of her worst nightmare and the first part of a prediction that might spell her doom—a devastatingly handsome and dangerous dark elf prince.

Unwilling to fall under the control of anyone ever again, Vail must escape before the Fifth King can use him as a pawn in a deadly game of revenge, but he cannot leave without Rosalind, the woman who looks at him with dark desire in her stunning eyes and awakens a fierce hunger in his heart. A witch who drives him mad with need even as the darkness within whispers she will enslave him too.

Can Rosalind escape her fate as they embark on a journey fraught with danger and resist the temptation of her rogue elf prince? And can Vail overcome the memories that madden him in order to seize his chance for salvation and the heart of his fated female forever?

My Review

Tempted by a Rogue Prince by Felicity Heaton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really loved this book! Felicity Heaton is a brilliant storyteller! and I think this is my favourite of the three books. Vail's struggle touched my heart so much that I found myself pulling for him time and time again just as Rosalind did. His struggle so deep and dark I thought for sure he would never crawl out.

There were so many dark and horrific aspects to this story that made the little moments of light that much sweeter, every moment of Vail's clarity was a gift and every moment they spent together challenging but worth it. Felicity Heaton couldn't have done a better job at this, as it was so full of heartache and suffering that it broke your heart to read it.

The world of demons and Hell that Felicity creates is amazing and gets more so with every book. the creatures the battles and of course the romance is even better and better. The imagination that would come up with this stuff would have to be brilliant as the scenery alone is a marvel. The creatures themselves are truly spectacular and the way they fight! is in one word terrifying...lol

if you haven't yet read this series make sure to start now! you won't regret it!

WW4BB & IFB Presents: Nina Lemay 'Shameless' Release Day Blitz

Posted by wiccawitch4 on 8:38:00 am

Publication Date: August 18th 2014

22447460

Synopsis

~New Adult Contemporary Romance -- recommended for mature readers~

Girls like me don’t get happy endings.

I know what I am. At worst a cliché, at best a cautionary tale. I put an international border between me and my past, only to wind up working in a low-end titty bar. Even my excuse is as lame as it gets: I’m paying for college, getting my art degree from Montreal’s most prestigious school. Although some days it becomes confusing: am I just a student who moonlights as a stripper, or a stripper who masquerades as a student?

But the inevitable happens and my two lives collide. And now there’s one other person who knows both the quiet, antisocial Hannah and the sensual, shameless Alicia. One person who keeps my secret.

He’s beautiful, he’s sophisticated. He comes from the other side of life, the one where I’m not wanted or accepted. But he calls me la petite Américaine, and his hot, hot hands on my skin promise me things I long ago gave up on.

The problem? He teaches my Classic Photography class.

This is a standalone novel, no series, no cliffhanger.

================

Thank you so much for helping me launch SHAMELESS into the world. Being a writer, especially an indie debut author, is often lonely and occasionally scary. All the support I’ve had with SHAMELESS just blew me away. You guys are amazing!

SHAMELESS is set in Montreal. Why Montreal, you ask? Montreal was the perfect setting for many reasons.

First… well, I’ve never read a New Adult novel set in Montreal. Actually, I haven’t read that many novels set in Montreal at all. It’s always a big city in the US, New York or LA or Chicago, and when the story needs a touch of exoticism, New Orleans. So I said to myself, how is Montreal worse than New Orleans? At least here we actually speak French, you know?

Montreal is a Canadian city, kind of on the small side (give or take 2 million people) and yes, it speaks French. French is the only official language of the province of Quebec, but in the heart of Montreal you can usually get by in English too. Montreal is known for a kind of libertine attitude and what we call joie de vivre—you gotta, when it’s freezing nine months of the year. I took this picture in the middle of April, after I woke up to a surprise snowstorm (surprise!).

Good music (Montreal is home to the giant outdoor Jazz Festival and several others throughout the summer), good food (and I don’t just mean poutine) and good nightlife is what it’s known for. It also has a sort of European feel to it. This is from when I lived on the Plateau, aka the French-speaking hipster neighborhood par excellence:

Coffee shop on the Plateau:

In the downtown core, the area is more English and more touristy. And I didn’t exaggerate: there really are strip clubs all along Ste-Catherine, the main shopping street of downtown Montreal. Here’s one right above a teen clothing store!

Quebec City, where Hannah and Emmanuel go for the long weekend, is one of the oldest settlements in North America and the provincial capital. About three hours by car to the north of Montreal, Ville de Quebec has the look and feel of a majestic European city.

I went to university with many people who moved across the continent to go to school here, and I always admired (and was kind of envious of) the courage it takes. So when I wrote Hannah, a girl who’s desperate to escape her high school years no matter the cost, I thought, what better place to run away to than Montreal?

Whisper by Heather Hildenbrand
New Adult Paranormal Fantasy

The Cherokee believe when a person dies, their soul is reborn. Life is repeated. An endless cycle of lessons to be learned, love to be found, destiny to be fulfilled. For the past six months, in every flower, every bird, I’ve imagined my parents, relieved of their human forms.

Now, after five months at the Skye View Wellness Center, it was summer. A time for parties and friends, but that’s the last thing I want to do. So when my best friend Erin convinces me to attend a bonfire at Eagle Point, I can’t handle the crowd full of sympathetic stares or drunken class clowns who would use my tragedy as a way into my heart – or my pants. The solitude of the woods offers an escape, until I stumble upon a boy, unconscious and bleeding, his pockets stuffed not with identification but with poetry illustrating the beauty of dying. I’ve seen enough death. I will not leave this boy’s side.

Even after he wakes, when the only thing he can remember are visions of events that haven’t happened yet…
